Lower Derwent fishing



Hoorah! After many fruitless hours on the bank I have at last had another fish! Went down at about 3pm on a relatively mild (9C) but slightly breezy afternoon. River still nicely in its banks. Put in a couple of casts of feeder with maggot and after about 20 minutes got a decent bite which turned into this:


For these parts that is quite a nice chub, a bit shy of a pound I’d reckon. Got another little knock a bit later, but it didn’t turn into a strikable bite. Then as the light was fading struck into another good fish. It stayed on for maybe 10 seconds before slipping the hook. Still, I am a happy man!
