Lower Derwent fishing

Landing net not redundant after all…


Cold, around zero, but no wind and the river level still falling. Picked up this nice little roach of about half a pound on the usual double red maggot:


Also had a couple of small chub. So things on the up. However, two blokes fishing 30 or 40m upstream of me on the other bank were reeling in decent numbers of roach. They were better anglers than me certainly. But they had also groundbaited quite heavily and it is possible that the river is a bit deeper there and that the fish might have congregated. I can’t fish that bit because have trees on my side. Anyway I caught three fish and that makes me happy.
